There has been a concerted effort across the United States to ban books from schools that are considered too thought provoking or affirming for students from historically marginalized communities.  This fall, we are is providing Student Grants to support Durham youth in grades 6-12 who are seeking to apply anti-racism in their classrooms and school communities by creating their own book club or literary society.

The primary goal of this series of microgrants is to support book clubs or literary societies that foster discussion, increase belonging, and promote research.  The previous application deadline was September 30, 2024. We are not currently accepting applications.

Award: Microgrants ranging from $250-$500
